Meet Electra Byers
owner & psychotherapist
at Electra Byers Psychotherapy PLLC
You’re thoughtful, and you’ve already done meaningful work—therapy, books, podcasts, mindfulness—yet something still feels stuck. Anxiety keeps looping, old trauma shows up in new ways, or your relationship feels disconnected—more silence, quicker snaps, or the aftershocks of betrayal. What used to work isn’t working anymore. Big transitions—like becoming a parent or stepping into a new stage of life—magnifies it all.

My aim is to help you feel steady, clear, and more connected—to yourself and the people you love. I believe in your innate sanity and basic goodness. Rather than telling you what’s right or wrong, we’ll unpack the subconscious rules and expectations you’ve been carrying, update coping that once helped but now limits you, and practice straightforward skills in the room so you leave with tools you can use right away. We’ll follow threads into the past when it’s useful and stay anchored in the present so change is workable, all within a steady, accepting space to feel big emotions, ask the questions that long for answers, and rediscover your own wisdom and agency.

I work with curious adults seeking help with anxiety; post-traumatic stress (PTSD) and complex PTSD; perfectionism; perinatal mood and anxiety disorders; relationship strain or betrayal; and life transitions or feeling stuck. I also work with couples who want to repair and reconnect; intensive sessions are available for faster momentum.
My work is grounded in contemplative psychotherapy and Buddhist psychology. In practice, we slow down and build mindful attention so your nervous system has room to settle and choose. I integrate Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (body- and nervous-system focused), the Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (attachment and regulation), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing—EMDR (trauma repair). I’m also Perinatal Mental Health–Certified. In addition to offering individual and couples psychotherapy, I offer a semi-regular postpartum support group.

Mental Health Conditions

Anxiety
Your body won’t settle and your mind keeps looping worst-case scenarios. You just want to feel calm and clear again.
Perfectionism
You hold yourself to impossible standards and still feel like you’re falling short. The drive to “get it right” can leave you drained and disconnected from joy. There’s another way—one built on compassion instead of criticism.

Relationship Issues
You love deeply but end up in the same arguments or lonely patterns. Communication misfires, old hurts replay, and connection feels harder than it should. We’ll uncover what’s really happening so closeness can feel safe again.
Moments that were supposed to bring relief or joy can instead leave lasting fear or confusion. Medical settings or memories may still bring a surge of panic or shut-down. Processing those experiences can help your body trust safety again.
You adore your baby but can’t stop worrying, checking, or preparing for what might go wrong. Exhaustion and guilt can pile on quickly. You deserve support that helps you feel grounded and confident in your new rhythm.
